Cleaning & Sanitization: Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, and heavy cookware (pots and pans) using industrial dishwashers or by hand. Facility Maintenance: Sweep and mop floors, clean walls and ceiling tiles, and sanitize food preparation surfaces, ovens, and walk-in refrigerators. Waste Management: Safely dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables, ensuring dumpster areas are kept tidy to prevent pests. Inventory & Support: Receive and stock deliveries, organize storage areas, and monitor cleaning supply levels. Food Preparation Support: Assist chefs with basic tasks like peeling, washing, and chopping vegetables, or helping with buffet set-ups. Velvet Jobs +9 Key Requirements & Skills Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment (up to 20kg+), and work in hot, humid environments. Sanitation Knowledge: Understanding of food safety standards (like HACCP) and the proper handling of cleaning chemicals (MSDS). Operational Skills: Proficiency in operating commercial dishwashing machines and maintaining a tidy workspace under pressure. Education: Most roles require a high school diploma or equivalent; some higher-tier positions in India may prefer a diploma or certificate from institutes like the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM).
